Who is eligible?
- Individuals aged 18 to 64
- Legal guardians or representatives applying on behalf of someone else
Who is not eligible
- People currently serving a prison sentence of two years or more in a federal penitentiary

How to apply
- Applications can be submitted online, by phone, by mail, or in person at a Service Canada Centre.
- If you received a letter from Service Canada with a unique application code, you can use it to apply using the shortened application form.
- You can use a printed application form or the online portal.
- If you are applying for yourself, use the beneficiary application form or the online portal.
- If you are a legal guardian or representative applying on behalf of someone else, use the legal representative application form or the online portal.
Processing and Agreement
- Applications can be submitted online, by phone, by mail, or in person at a Service Canada Centre.
- If you are applying as a legal representative, it can take up to 49 days to receive a response.
- If you applied for yourself, you can expect to receive a decision within 28 days.
- If your monthly payment is $20 or less, you will receive a single combined payment for the entire period.
