Who is eligible?
- People with disabilities who are between 18 and 64 years old
Who is not eligible
- People serving a sentence of imprisonment of 2 years or more in a federal penitentiary, except for the first and last month of their incarceration

How to apply
- Prepare your information and submit the form.
Processing and Agreement
- Service Canada will review your application.
- You should receive an eligibility decision within 28 calendar days of applying; if a legal representative applies on your behalf, within 49 calendar days.
- If you disagree with the eligibility decision, payment amount, or think an error was made, you can ask for a reconsideration.
- You must submit the request within 180 days of the date of the decision.
- Your first payment will be in the month after your application is approved.
Additional information
- You do not need to receive an invitation letter to apply for the CDB.
- Service Canada plans to send similar letters on an ongoing basis to people who may be newly eligible, for example people who have recently been approved for the DTC.
