- People serving a sentence of 2 years or more in a federal penitentiary, except for the first and last month of incarceration

- Service Canada reviews the application after submission.
- An eligibility decision is usually sent within 28 calendar days, or 49 days for legal representative applications.
- If you disagree, you can request reconsideration within 180 days.
- If reconsideration is denied, you can appeal to the Social Security Tribunal.

- Applicants may use a legal representative or an authorized person to communicate with Service Canada.
