Eligibility
- The applicant must be an individual apprentice, not a company or business entity.
- The applicant must have successfully completed an apprenticeship program and received journeyperson certification in a designated Red Seal trade.
- The applicant must be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or a protected person.
- The apprenticeship completion must be confirmed by supporting documentation from the relevant provincial or territorial apprenticeship authority.

- Companies in skilled trades recognized under the Red Seal Program
- Employers in sectors offering apprenticeships that lead to journeyperson certification in designated trades
Eligible geographic areas
- Companies and individuals located in all Canadian provinces and territories, including Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Northwest Territories, Nova Scotia, Nunavut, Ontario, Prince Edward Island, Quebec, Saskatchewan, and Yukon.
How to apply

Gather supporting documents
- Gather all required supporting documents according to your province or territory of registration
- If you do not have your supporting documents, contact your provincial or territorial apprenticeship issuing authority

Gather personal information
- Ensure you have your Social Insurance Number (SIN)
- Prepare your provincial apprentice ID number
- Have your banking information ready for direct deposit

Submit supporting documents
- Submit supporting documents online, by mail, or in person
- Ensure you have previously submitted your application before submitting documents
- Verify all documents meet the required format and guidelines
Additional information
- The Apprenticeship Completion Grant (ACG) is a taxable benefit. Recipients will receive a T4A slip (Relevé 1 in Quebec) the year after payment for tax filing purposes.
- The ACG does not count as earnings and does not affect Employment Insurance (EI) benefits.
- Grant funds may be redirected to third parties if the recipient owes family support payments under the Family Orders and Agreements Enforcement Assistance Act.
- Apprentices can still access financial support through Employment Insurance benefits and Canada Apprentice Loans, even though the ACG program has ended.
