How to apply
- Step 1: Gather Supporting Documents
- Obtain required supporting documents from your provincial or territorial apprenticeship issuing authority.
- If you do not have your supporting documents, contact your authority for assistance.
- Step 2: Gather Personal Information
- Collect your Social Insurance Number (SIN).
- Have your provincial apprentice ID number.
- Prepare your banking information for direct deposit.
- Step 3: Submit Supporting Documents
- Ensure you have previously submitted an application for the Apprenticeship Completion Grant.
- Submit supporting documents by one of the following methods:
- Online: Upload the documents through the designated portal after submitting your application.
- By mail: Send the documents to the appropriate Service Canada Processing Centre depending on your province or territory.
- In person: Deliver documents at a local Service Canada Centre (verify if offices are open).
- Documents must be received within 12 months from your application deadline but no later than March 31, 2026.
Additional information
- The Apprenticeship Completion Grant (ACG) is a taxable benefit. Recipients will receive a T4A slip (Relevé 1 in Quebec) the year after payment for tax filing purposes.
- The ACG does not count as earnings and does not affect Employment Insurance (EI) benefits.
- Grant funds may be redirected to third parties if the recipient owes family support payments under the Family Orders and Agreements Enforcement Assistance Act.
- Apprentices can still access financial support through Employment Insurance benefits and Canada Apprentice Loans, even though the ACG program has ended.
