Eligibility

Who is eligible?

  • Low-income Manitobans aged 55 and over.
  • Applicants not receiving Old Age Security benefits.
  • Applicants receiving Old Age Security benefits.

Who is not eligible

  • People receiving income assistance or general assistance, except health-care-only assistance.
  • People eligible for Old Age Security benefits, under the not-eligible stream.
  • People incarcerated in a provincial correctional institution or federal penitentiary.

How to apply

  • Step 1: Complete the application form
    • Use the form approved by the Minister.
    • Provide all information and documents requested.
  • Step 2: Submit the application
    • Submit the completed application to the Manitoba program office.
    • You may apply at any time during the benefit year.
  • Step 3: Await review and decision
    • The application is reviewed to determine eligibility and benefit amount.
    • You will receive a written decision with reasons.
  • Step 4: Reapply if required
    • Recipients must reapply annually to continue into the next benefit year.
