Role of Levante Foundation in the Funding Ecosystem
The Levante Foundation serves as the philanthropic arm of Levante Living, a Canadian senior living enterprise managing 24 retirement residences across Canada. Established to enhance the quality of life for seniors, the foundation collaborates with organizations doing good work in senior living in Canada and Canadian charities working to promote healthy aging globally.
Funding Focus Areas
The foundation considers organizations focusing on all aspects of health and wellness, including physical wellbeing, mental health, learning, the brain, Alzheimer's, and other areas that contribute to the ability to thrive as we age. Grant amounts range from $1,000 to $15,000 depending on the scope of the proposed project.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must be registered Canadian charities or other qualified donors undertaking projects in specified geographic locations listed in the portfolio focus. The foundation primarily supports organizations in communities where Levante Living has senior living residences.
Notable Programs and Past Recipients
- Euterpe: A registered not-for-profit charity bringing live classical and jazz music performances to seniors, particularly those from underserved communities.
- CSARN (Canadian Senior Artists' Resource Network): Supports professional artists to keep active and creative as they age through mentoring programs.
- HelpAge Canada: Supports older Canadians from coast to coast, particularly those who are underprivileged, marginalized, or struggling with loneliness and isolation.
