Grant and Funding Programs Offered by Lauberivière Foundation

Lauberivière Foundation is the dedicated fundraising and financing arm of Lauberivière, a major refuge and multiservice centre for people experiencing or at risk of homelessness in Québec City. The foundation’s core mission is to provide financial support to Lauberivière’s services by receiving donations and organizing a variety of fundraising activities. Each year, it contributes more than one third of Lauberivière’s operating budget, making it an essential financial pillar for housing, food aid, recovery, day centre and other support services.

The foundation mobilizes individual donors, families, businesses and institutional partners in the greater Québec City region. It manages a large annual fundraising campaign, including direct-mail appeals to more than 250,000 households, and coordinates benefit events and third-party fundraising initiatives. Gifts may take several forms, such as one-time or recurring monetary donations, planned gifts, bequests and in memoriam donations, as described in the organization’s documentation. These funds are then allocated to Lauberivière’s programs and services rather than to external organizations.

The foundation’s financial support targets the full range of services offered by Lauberivière to people facing homelessness, poverty, addiction, social exclusion or barriers to reintegration into the labour market. By covering a significant share of operating costs, the foundation helps maintain emergency shelter for men and women, a soup kitchen, a fiduciary service for financial stabilization, recovery and day programs, sobering-up services and other psychosocial support initiatives. Indirectly, thousands of people benefit each year from the funding decisions and priorities set by the foundation and Lauberivière’s leadership.

The Lauberivière Foundation is governed by a board of directors made up of volunteers from various professional backgrounds, including finance, law, business and community leadership. A small, dedicated staff team coordinates fundraising campaigns, benefit events and relationships with volunteers. The foundation recognizes key corporate and professional partners that provide major donations, sponsorships and pro bono services. Activity reports, brochures and donation forms are made publicly available through the documentation section, supporting transparency about the use of funds and the impact of donations.

Supporters and religious communities have backed the foundation and its fundraising efforts since 1983, helping it build a broad base of loyal donors and collaborators. Over the years, this sustained generosity has enabled Lauberivière to grow into a central actor in the local homelessness response, offering a "house of human dignity" for thousands of people.
