Grant and Funding Programs Offered by LaSalle Hospital Foundation

LaSalle Hospital Foundation is a charitable non-profit created in 1979 to support LaSalle Hospital, part of the CIUSSS de l’Ouest-de-l’Île-de-Montréal. Its primary role is to raise and manage philanthropic funds in order to purchase modern medical equipment and enhance the quality of care offered to the local population. The foundation positions itself as a philanthropic reference for health in the LaSalle community and acts as a key link between donors, hospital staff and patients.

The foundation does not operate competitive grant calls; instead, it channels donations and other revenues directly into priority projects at LaSalle Hospital. A major focus is the purchase of medical equipment, showcased in the "Achat d’équipement" section, where detailed examples such as ultrasound systems, respiratory devices, phototherapy lamps and specialized neonatal equipment are presented. These acquisitions are financed through donations from individuals, businesses, community partners and revenues from parking operations, which are explicitly earmarked for buying new medical equipment.

It also encourages third-party events organized by community groups and partners, providing a guide for those who wish to raise funds on its behalf. In addition, specific initiatives like the "Vos Héros" program and in memoriam donations allow donors to honour caregivers or loved ones while contributing financially.

Parking management on the hospital site is another structured source of revenue. The foundation states that all parking fees are directed to the acquisition of new medical equipment, reinforcing the link between everyday contributions and tangible improvements in care.

The foundation is governed by a board of directors composed of volunteers from the community and the health sector, supported by a small permanent team (executive director, philanthropic development analyst, administrative staff and accountant). Governance values highlighted include respect, integrity and accountability. The publication of audited annual financial statements from 2018 onward demonstrates a commitment to financial transparency and proper stewardship of donated funds.

Through the equipment and projects it finances, LaSalle Hospital Foundation indirectly serves a wide range of patients and families who rely on LaSalle Hospital for care, from births and neonatal services to intensive care, geriatrics and general medicine.
