The Richelieu-International Foundation is the philanthropic arm of the Richelieu International movement, created to provide more effective financial support to francophone youth. The foundation does not implement projects itself; instead, it supports the actions of community organizations, institutions and local partners, both morally and financially. It manages and grows the capital entrusted to it by Richelieu members and other donors, and redistributes these resources through structured grant programs and calls for projects.

Following a strategic shift adopted in 2019, the foundation no longer provides individual donations or personal bursaries. It now concentrates its resources on collective projects with a strong environmental dimension that still contribute to child and youth well-being. Funding priorities include the protection and enhancement of pollinating insects, replacement of polluting activities with greener practices, support for environmental education programs, and protection of sensitive habitats such as wetlands, forests and riverbanks.

Other supported themes are the cleaning and restoration of polluted or degraded sites, rehabilitation and sanitation of living environments, composting and recovery initiatives, and the creation or restoration of natural spaces. The foundation also backs projects that promote renewable energy and large-scale tree, shrub and flower planting. The "Projets" section of the site showcases past recipients such as schools, camps, environmental NGOs and community organizations funded in various Canadian provinces and in Haiti.

The foundation organizes periodic calls for projects with a total envelope that has recently been set at up to $75,000 per year, distributed among several initiatives. For each call, it publishes opening and closing dates and announces results at the annual general assembly. Applicants are directed to a grant application form hosted online and must meet eligibility conditions detailed in the foundation’s funding policy and project eligibility criteria, provided as downloadable documents.

Projects are evaluated using a formal assessment grid developed by the board of directors. General eligibility criteria derive from the foundation’s "Politique de financement" and ensure alignment with its mission of supporting environmental actions for and by francophone youth.
