Fondation de la Chenelière: A Commitment to Education
Origins and Independence
The Fondation de la Chenelière was originally established within the publishing house Chenelière Éducation. After the sale of the publishing house, the foundation achieved full autonomy, marking a new chapter in its mission. This independence enabled the foundation to broaden its fields of action and to develop its own philosophy, which sees education as a response to contemporary challenges.
Pillars of Action
Guided by the belief that education is fundamental to human development, the Fondation de la Chenelière has chosen to concentrate on three main pillars:
- Arts and Culture: Supporting creativity and cultural enrichment.
- Environment: Encouraging research and innovation for a sustainable world.
- International Openness: Fostering global understanding and cooperation through educational initiatives abroad.
Why Focus on Education?
While a large portion of charitable donations is typically directed toward health and disease research—which are undeniably important—general education receives comparatively less funding. Yet, education is the cornerstone of personal and societal development. By investing in education, especially in underfunded sectors such as the arts, scientific research in environmental fields, and support for emerging nations, the foundation aims to empower individuals to invent, rethink, and improve the world.
Vision for the Future
By generously supporting artists, scientists, and educational institutions, especially in emerging countries, the Fondation de la Chenelière strives to bring the world closer to mutual understanding and peace. Education represents not just the foundation for creating new knowledge, but also a bridge to a more cooperative and harmonious future for all.
