Centre Marguerite Dubois: A Pillar of Community Support
History of the Marguerite Dubois Volunteer Action Center
Founded in 1995 by Sister Marguerite Dubois, a member of the Sisters of Saint-Joseph, the Centre Marguerite Dubois started as a small relief center in the old Pierre Aubre school in Bromont. After more than 45 years as a teacher, Sister Marguerite devoted herself to serving the local community, focusing at first on food assistance—especially Christmas baskets for those in need. Over the years, various partners joined the initiative, expanding the center's reach and services. Though the location, community needs, and service offerings have evolved, the mission and values established by Sister Marguerite nearly 25 years ago remain at the core of everything the center does.
Thrift Store Hours
The center runs a thrift store ("friperie") that is open to the public on Thursday from 10 AM to 6 PM, Friday from 10 AM to 5 PM, and Saturday from 10 AM to 4 PM. The store offers affordable clothing and useful items, all while re-investing proceeds back into community programs.
Donation Guidelines
Donations are accepted exclusively on Wednesdays from 8 AM to 3 PM and Saturdays from 10 AM to 4 PM. The center kindly asks donors to respect these specific drop-off times to help volunteers manage and sort items efficiently.
Supporting the Community in Bromont and Brigham
Centre Marguerite Dubois is a vital resource for Bromont and Brigham, providing support to individuals and families through emergency food aid, community outreach, and various volunteer-driven services. The center invites everyone to support their initiatives, whether by making online donations, contributing items to the thrift store, or volunteering their time.
