Accelerating Innovation in Canada's Electric Vehicle Sector
The Electric Vehicle Manufacturing Value Chain Program (EVMP) aims to invest up to $35 million to spearhead advanced manufacturing projects that bolster the Canadian ZEV supply chain. This initiative seeks to enhance Canada's role in the global EV market by fostering job creation, economic growth, and sustainable manufacturing processes.
Unveiling Opportunities in the Zero Emissions Vehicle Value Chain
The Electric Vehicle Manufacturing Value Chain Program (EVMP) represents a strategic initiative by NGen to propel Canada's automotive industry into the future. This substantial funding opportunity is directed at innovative, business-led projects that have the potential to transform the Zero Emissions Vehicle (ZEV) landscape in Canada. By leveraging up to $35 million in investments, with industry contributions raising the total project value to an impressive $95 million, this program aims to catalyze the evolution of advanced manufacturing capabilities across the entire ZEV value chain.
This program is particularly poised to nurture a thriving Canadian ecosystem for battery electric vehicles (BEV) and fuel cell electric vehicles (FCEV), addressing every facet from mineral processing and battery componentry to vehicle assembly and recycling. Canada is uniquely positioned to capitalize on this opportunity, endowed with rich mineral resources, a vibrant manufacturing base, and a leading innovation ecosystem.
At the heart of this initiative is the goal of scaling up innovative technologies and processes to improve production capabilities sustainably. The program encourages the development of advanced manufacturing technologies, including the refinement and processing of critical minerals, light-weighting of vehicles, and advancement in power electronics.
