Ineligible Costs and Activities

  • Construction, installation, maintenance, or removal of signs or buoys under the Vessel Operation Restriction Regulations
  • Purchase of assets such as boats or trailers
  • Creation or distribution of non-recognized, non-enforceable, or inaccurate regulatory information, such as “No Wake” signs
  • Purchase of land or buildings
  • Recoverable sales taxes and costs incurred after the funding agreement end date

How to apply

  • Step 1: Request templates
    • Request the required project proposal templates from Transport Canada.
  • Step 2: Prepare application package
    • Complete the required templates.
    • Gather the required organizational, project, financial support, declaration, and legal documents.
    • Ensure the application is signed, accurate, and complete.
  • Step 3: Submit application
    • Send the application package electronically by email to the program address.
    • Submit the package in MS Word, MS Excel, or PDF format.
  • Step 4: Receive confirmation
    • Transport Canada confirms receipt of application packages.

Processing and Agreement

  • Applications are first reviewed to confirm they meet eligibility requirements.
  • Eligible applications are assessed by the Selection Review Committee against merit criteria.
  • Applicants are notified in writing whether their application is selected or not selected for funding.
  • Approved projects are subject to a risk assessment before a funding agreement is signed.
  • Reporting, claims, and payment terms are set in the signed funding agreement.

  • The recreational boating component is currently closed.
  • Priority is given to projects focused on new boaters, Indigenous or remote communities, and children or youth.
  • Multi-year projects are encouraged.
  • Successful recipients must respect the spirit and intent of the Official Languages Act.
